It was almost midnight when little Legend was abruptly awaken by a loud scream. Jumping out of her bed she took off down the cold dusty hall way with pictures half hanging off the rusty old nails.

She could not believe that her father had rented this stuffy decrepit mansion for three months. Legend reached the wind staircase that shows the pretty carvings of a time gone by.

Tip toeing down each cold step her

Heart pounding, and her feet barley moving. The last step Legend walk to the black corridor which leads to her dads library. A small crack was left open enough to take a little peek.

Her father's voice was mumbling as she saw the bloody knife in his hand and saw him walk over a lifeless body. Couldn’t be sure if it was a women or man?

But who was it? Legend was thinking, Just then her and her fathers eyes met and she bolted back up the crooked stairs, and ran into her room.

She slid under her bed where she felt safe from all monsters. Legend heard her father walking up each creepy stair, calling her name in his demanding voice.

Legend! Where is my beautiful girl?" The door opened with a slight creek. She could see his brown drab shoes with the laces half tied.

The bedspread flopped up and our eyes met once more.

"I need to talk with you about what you

saw in Daddy’s library."

"The blood was still on his hands."

"Daddy, What did you do?" And why are

Your hands bloody?"

"That’s what I need to talk with you about Legend"

As he sat on her bed, she could not get that lifeless body out of her mind. Who was it?

"Doll What you have witnessed was daddy doing an act from a movie"

For some reason she did not believe him.

Tears where running down her face with fear.

"Now, wipe away those tears, and get back to bed under these nice warm

Blankets."

"Ok, Daddy"

"Don’t forget to say the prayers"

He slowly walked out of the room as the prayers got weaker Our Father who art in heaven, her eyes grew heavy, and then fell fast asleep.

Legend awoke to the smell of fresh eggs and bacon. She rolled out of the warm covers and ran down the stairs

passing the library.

Oh, wait! She said to herself. "I have to have a look in the library."

She saw nothing not even bloodstains.

Father was right-it was all an act!

"Legend, What are you doing in daddy’s library?" You know you’re not allowed!

"Yes" Daddy; I’m sorry.

"That’s ok now let’s eat before breakfast gets cold."

After breakfast Legend asked her daddy if she could go exploring the grounds.

"Daddy, can I go out and play?"

"Sure, but stay on the grounds…" and don’t go wandering by the lake you hear?

"yeah"

She ran up the stairs and got dressed and grabbed her favorite doll, Camille. Legend took that doll everywhere with her.

Walking down the staircase she headed

into the foyer where the main doors led right outside. She felt the warmth of the sun as Legend went outside.

"Look Camille,a rose garden shall we go check it out?" Skipping all the way to the rose garden Legend, she spotted a shiny object. It was a pretty shiny locket.

"Camille, let’s show Daddy what we found."

She skipped back into the mansion to find her Daddy. There he was reading the news paper in his black leather chair.

"Daddy, Look what we found."

"What did you find, precious?"

"This golden locket."

He stood up, shocked, and demanded to

Know where I found it.

"I found it in the rose garden, Daddy because I couldn’t go in the lake."

He ran out to the rose garden mumbling strange words, as I followed him to the garden.

"Daddy, What’s wrong?"

He looked frightend, and looked around like he had lost something.

"Daddy, I said what’s wrong?"

"Nothing! Now let’s get back inside, and stay out of those roses, you hear, the thorns can cut you!

"Yeas, Daddy."

As they both entered the mansion, Legend was ready for a nap. Getting comfortable with this decrepit place she could tuck herself in bed and didn’t need her Daddy to do it.

After a few hours had passed, Legend awoke to a horrid banging, getting up she walked to the window and spotted her father with a shovel digging in the dirt.

She anxiously put on her shoes so she could go see what her father was

Digging, but by the time she got to the rose’s he was gone. All he left was a huge hole, leaving Legend puzzled.

Bang! Bang! She heard and followed it to her father. Peeking through the window outside her father was in a small room with the bricks half broken and cob webs everywhere.

She called this room the "dungeon" and he had a huge black trash bag. What was in it she said to herself?

She saw her father run up the stairs of this dungeon looking room, Legend decided to hurry inside the mansion to the room, and see what was in the black bag.

She knew where the hidden door was, that was where her father told her they put bad little girls in if they don’t behave.

The room was behind the bookcase inthe library. She walked over to the bookcase and pulled the leaver by the books, her heart pounding as the

Bookcase pushed back and open to a cold and dirty walkway where she could see the door to the dungeon. Legend pushed the door open half way, she saw the half open bag.

"She tip-toed in and opened the bag and saw her mother?" who was supposed to be in Paris.

"Mommy!" she cried, Tears ran down her shivering face.

"Legend!" her father called out angrily.

"You mad Daddy sad, you bad girl! What

Is Daddy going to do know?"

Legend heart was pounding with fear as her father walked back in the room, she started to shiver.

They both looked at each other, and her father reached for the light switch. The room became pitch black, and little Legend let out her last scream.
