A Confused Lawyer

A lawyer entered the courtroom late and hastily began his
presentation on behalf of his client.  After about ten minutes,
the judge interrupted him and told him, "You are representing the
wrong client, you should speak on behalf of Mr. X's opponent."
"In that case," the lawyer said, "the opposite is true from
everything I have said so far."
