The Power of Speaking Your Fiction Book into Existence

by Steve Kidd - Have you ever considered the idea that writing a book doesn’t always start with a pen or a keyboard? What if I told you that your voice—the stories you tell, the characters you imagine, and the world you create—could be the single most powerful tool you have for writing your next fiction masterpiece? As someone who has written twelve #1 International Best-Selling fiction stories and a children’s book simply by recording myself telling the story, I can confidently say: it works. And it could work for you too.

Why Speaking Works

When you tell a story out loud, it flows naturally. The pauses, the emotions, the dialogue—they come to life in a way that’s often stilted when typed out first. Speaking engages your imagination, allowing you to experience your story as if you were living it. This approach eliminates the fear of the blank page because you’re simply telling a story, not writing one.

My Journey and Results

I’ve had the honor of helping over 4,500 people write, publish, and market their books to bestseller status. Many of these authors felt overwhelmed by traditional writing methods. But once they embraced the art of speaking their books into existence, everything changed. It’s not about perfection in the first round—it’s about capturing the essence of your story. Polishing comes later, with editing and refining.

Think about it: before the written word, storytelling was an oral tradition. It’s in our DNA. When you talk, you let the story flow unfiltered, revealing creativity you didn’t know was there.

How to Start

1. Prepare the Basics: Outline your key plot points and characters. But don’t overthink it— KEEEP THE IDEA SIMPLE -if it is something fun, engaging and interesting to you, it will be for your ideal reader. And remember, this is just a guide, let the story breathe and grow.

2. Hit Record: Use your smartphone or any recording device. Imagine you’re telling your story to a captivated audience.

3. Immerse Yourself: Act out the dialogue, describe the scenes, and let your emotions show. This will make your story vibrant and compelling.

4. Transcribe and Refine: Once you’ve recorded your story, use transcription software to turn your spoken words into text. Then, revise and enhance your work.

Why You Should Try It

This method isn’t just faster—it’s freeing. It bypasses the inner critic that second-guesses every word you write. Speaking your book allows you to unleash your creativity and connect with the raw passion behind your story.

You don’t need to struggle through endless drafts or feel like you’re “not a writer.” You’re a storyteller, and your voice is the key to bringing your fiction to life. Try it—you might just discover your masterpiece waiting in your own words.
