After the prayer
and pledges had been said, Robert turned the meeting over to Grandma.
Grandma smiled at
the little group as she said, “I’m not going to take up time tonight talking to
you and taking care of business. I’m anxious to hear Tori’s presentation of her
second part of Genesis, the Book of Beginnings.” Again she smiled as she
motioned for Tori to come forward.
Tori smiled back
at Grandma as she said, “Grandma, it’s taking a lot longer to cover the book of
Genesis than I realized. I sure am enjoying it, though. For the past month, my
family has been using the scripture for my presentation as our devotions. This
has definitely become a family project,” she continued. “I’ve decided to
introduce Isaac’s wife, Rebekah.”
“When Abraham was
very old, he sent his servant to find a wife for his son, Isaac. He didn’t want
his son to marry a daughter of the Canaanites. He asked his servant to go to
his, (Abraham’s) country and take a woman from there.”
She giggled as
Miranda held up the first page. “I’m not good at drawing animals, but as you
see, these are camels because they have two humps on their back. I drew ten
because that’s how many the servant took with him,” she explained.
“When Abraham’s
servant arrived at Mesopotamia, he did something we should all do when we have
to make an important decision. He prayed.”
She motioned for
Miranda to turn the page. On the next page, she had drawn a stick figure
kneeling with his hands folded in prayer.”
“He asked God to
let things run smoothly, and to bless his master, Abraham. What he asked for
next is exactly what happened,” she said.
As Miranda turned
the next page, Tori pointed to a girl pouring a drink of water out of a pitcher
for the servant. Miranda turned to the next page where Tori had drawn a girl
watering the camels. “This is what the servant had asked God to let happen. He
knew this was the girl God had picked out for Isaac,” she continued.
“On the next
page, you’ll see that the servant gave Rebekah a lot of jewelry.”
“The servant and
the guys who were with him were invited in for supper. Before the servant would
eat, he said he wanted to state his business for being there. When he told
Rebekah’s daddy that Abraham had sent him to pick out a wife for Isaac, her
daddy didn’t hesitate.”
She pretended to
be in deep study as she spoke again. “I guess he must have been praying
for the right man for his daughter. That reminds me of Mama and Daddy praying
that when Miranda and I get old enough to get married, God will send us the
right man. I guess that’s just a parent thing, huh?”
Tori continued
her story. “The next day, Abraham’s servant, the guys with him, Rebekah and her
nurse left to go meet Isaac.”
As Miranda turned
the page, Tori explained. “On this page, I tried to draw Rebekah running to
meet Isaac. It must have been love at first sight,” she laughed.
“Mama says if I
let God pick out my husband for me, we’ll all know it’s the right one. She says
she knows God brought her and Daddy together. She says He had a plan for all our
lives. I think he might have planned on our whole family doing a work for Him.
That’s all of my story, Grandma.”
As she took her
seat, Grandma thanked her for doing such a good job. As they dismissed in
prayer, Grandma prayed that the children would always seek God in prayer before
making decisions.

Jesus", these stories and the scriptures we've learned, show the

their lights out, and how to share their lights with others. Click

why didn't you just copy the story from the bible onto the website? how is this creative writing? what you may consider doing in revision is rewriting the same story but with miranda and her brother acting in the way of the bible story. in other words what was significant about this story that made you write about it, right now it could have been any story out of any religious book.

Great beginning, but is missing the moral to the story - how Joseph became a great leader and later helped and forgave his brothers for their betrayal.

Certainly deserved to be at the top of the statistics!
Please change the word "my" to '"by" in the sentence "You must have figured out..."
Otherwise, I couldn't detect any typos.

I don't know what age group you are trying to reach so it makes it really hard to rate. I think the story is ok for little children. To appeal to older children or young adults it needs more detail, more about the feelings of how it felt to wear the colored clothing and how they think Joseph must have felt. How that Joseph in his time was probably proud of his coat. How things were different then and how time changes things, but God never changes and still works through people.

Grandma, your Bible stories are excellent. And the youth that you help are so wonderful. Keep up the fine work!
